AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 46:2521, 2525(B)(1), (C) and (D)(1) through (12), and to repeal2
R.S. 46:2525(D)(13), and R.S. 49:210.1, relative to the organization of the executive3
branch of state government; to provide relative to the governor's office on women's4
policy; to provide relative to the Louisiana Women's Policy and Research5
Commission; and to provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. R.S. 46:2521, 2525(B)(1), (C) and (D)(1) through (12) are hereby8
amended and reenacted to read as follows: 9
§2521. Governor's office on women's policy10
There is hereby created the office on women's policy within the office of the11
governor. The office shall exercise the powers and duties hereinafter set forth or12
otherwise provided by law. The office shall be administered by an executive director13
who shall be appointed by the governor, subject to confirmation by the Senate, to14
serve at his pleasure. The executive director shall employ necessary staff to carry out15
the duties and functions of the office as provided in this Chapter or as otherwise16
provided by law. The executive director shall coordinate the activities of the office17
with the special assistant to the governor on women's policy.18

§2525. Louisiana Women's Policy and Research Commission20

B. The duties of the commission shall include but are not limited to the22
following:23
(1) Advising the governor, through the special assistant to the governor on24
executive director of women's policy, on the particular hardships, concerns, and25
needs that challenge women in Louisiana and their possible solutions.26

C. The commission shall submit detailed annual reports to the governor,1
through the special assistant to the governor on executive director of women's2
policy, which address the issues set forth in Subsection B of this Section.3
D. The commission shall consist of a maximum of twenty- six five members.4
The thirteen members serving pursuant to Paragraph (1312) of this Subsection shall5
be appointed by the governor, subject to Senate confirmation, and serve terms6
concurrent with the appointing governor. The commission shall be reflective of all7
geographic regions of the state and, as much as possible, shall consist of the8
following members:9
(1) The special assistant to the governor on women's policy.10
(21) The commissioner of administration or the commissioner's designee.11
(32) The secretary of the Department of Social Services or the secretary's12
designee.13
(43) The secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals or the14
secretary's designee.15
(54) The superintendent of the Department of Education or the16
superintendent's designee.17
(65) The secretary of the Department of Labor or the secretary's executive18
director of the Louisiana Workforce Commission or the executive director's19
designee.20
(76) The executive director of the Office on Women's Policy or the executive21
director's designee.22
(87) The executive director of the Children's Cabinet or the executive director's23
designee.24
(98) Two members of the Women's Legislative Caucus.25
(109) The commissioner of higher education or the commissioner's designee.26
(1110) The chairperson of the Women's Legislative Caucus or her designee.27
(1211) The secretary of the Department of Economic Development or the28
secretary's designee.29

expertise in one or more of the following areas:1
(a) Business or industry.2
(b) Economics.3
(c) Education.4
(d) Demographics.5
(e) Public health.6
(f) Law.7
(g) Social science and/or social work.8
(h) Violence against women.9
(i) Gender studies.10
(j) Youth organization focused solely on girls.11
(k) Women’s organization.12

Section 2.  R.S. 46:2525(D)(13) and R.S. 49:210.1 are hereby repealed in their14
entirety.15
Section 3. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if16
not signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without17
signature by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of18
Louisiana. If vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this19
Act shall become effective on the day following such approval.20
