INSURERS. Provides for access to records of certain insureds by the commissioner of
insurance. (8/15/10)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 22:1911, relative to unauthorized insurers; to provide for access to the records2
of certain insureds by the commissioner of insurance; to provide for penalties; and3
to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 22:1911 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง1911.  Records of insureds7
Every person for whom insurance has been placed with an unauthorized8
insurer pursuant to or in violation of this Part shall, upon order of the9
commissioner of insurance, produce for his examination all policies and other10
documents evidencing the insurance and shall disclose to the commissioner of11
insurance the amount of the gross premiums paid or agreed to be paid for the12
insurance. For each refusal to obey such order, a person shall be liable for a fine13
of not more than five hundred dollars.14 SB NO. 267

DIGEST
Proposed law requires that, upon order of the commissioner of insurance, a person who has
insurance with an unauthorized insurer shall produce policies and other documents
evidencing the insurance and disclose the amount of gross premiums paid or to be paid for
the insurance. Provides that a person refusing to obey the order of the commissioner shall
be liable for a fine of not more than $500 per refusal.
Effective August 15, 2010.
