Regular Session, 2010 ENROLLED SENATE BILL NO. 420 BY SENATOR MARIONNEAUX AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 17:63, relative to the Iberville Parish School Board; to provide relative to the2 size of the board; to provide relative to the adoption of an apportionment plan for3 member districts and approval of such plan; and to provide for related matters.4 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 17:63 is hereby enacted to read as follows:7 ยง63. Iberville Parish School Board; number of members; districts8 A. The Iberville Parish School Board shall consist of nine members.9 Eight members shall be elected from single-member districts and one member10 shall be elected at-large. The single-member districts shall be designated as11 School Board District A, School Board District B, School Board District C,12 School Board District D, School Board District E, School Board District F,13 School Board District G, and School Board District H. The district for the14 member elected at-large shall be designated as School Board District I.15 B.(1) No later than the deadline contained in R.S. 17:71.5, the Iberville16 Parish School Board shall develop a plan to provide for the eight single-member17 districts. Each single-member district shall contain as equal population as18 possible utilizing population figures from the latest federal decennial census.19 The at-large district shall contain the entirety of the Iberville Parish school20 district.21 (2) Prior to the final adoption of the plan required by this Subsection,22 the Iberville Parish School Board shall have a public hearing on the proposed23 plan. (b) A general summary and map of the proposed plan.1 (c) The times and places where copies of the proposed plan are available2 for public inspection.3 C. The provisions of this Section shall apply to redistricting of the4 Iberville Parish School Board following the 2010 federal decennial census for5 the regular elections for the school board in 2014 and thereafter.6 Section 2. Nothing in this Act shall affect the term of office of the members of the7 Iberville Parish School Board elected at the regularly scheduled elections in 2010.8 Section 3. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not9 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature10 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
