SENATE BILL NO. 429
BY SENATOR DONAHUE 
HOSPITALS. Requires the Louisiana State University - Health Care Services Division and
the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center - Shreveport to conduct certain
financial and operational assessments. (gov sig)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 17:1519.18, relative to the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center;2
to provide for the requirement of conducting certain financial and operational3
assessments; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 17:1519.18 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง1519.18. Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center; financial and7
operational assessments8
Subject to appropriation, the Louisiana State University Health Sciences9
Center - Shreveport and the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center10
- Health Care Services Division shall conduct a financial and operational11
assessment for every hospital under their respective control. The results of each12
financial and operational assessment shall be submitted to the Senate13
Committee on Health and Welfare, the Senate Finance Committee, the House14
Committee on Health and Welfare, and the House Appropriations Committee.15
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not16
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature17 SB NO. 429

by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If1
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become2
effective on the day following such approval.3

Proposed law requires, subject to appropriation, that the Louisiana State University Health
Sciences Center - Shreveport and the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center -
Health Care Services Division shall conduct a financial and operational assessment for every
hospital under their respective control.
Proposed law further provides that the results of each financial and operational assessment
shall be submitted to the Senate Committee on Health and Welfare, the Senate Finance
Committee, the House Committee on Health and Welfare, and the House Appropriations
Committee.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
