(gov sig) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 42:6.1(E), relative to open meetings law; to provide an exception to open2 meetings law for certain gatherings of municipal and parish governing authorities;3 and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 42:6.1(E) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6 ยง6.1. Exceptions to open meetings 7 * * *8 E. The provisions of R.S. 42:4.1 through R.S. 42:12 shall not apply to any9 gathering of members of a municipal governing authority or parish governing10 authority at which only presentations are made to members of the governing11 authority, or at which matters of public policy are discussed with the chief12 executive officer of the municipality or parish, if no vote or other action,13 including formal or informal polling of members, is taken.14 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not15 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature16 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. Proposed law adds an exception to present law relative to open meetings for any gathering of members of a municipal governing authority or parish governing authority at which only presentations are made to members of the governing authority, or at which matters of public policy are discussed with the chief executive officer of the municipality or parish, if no vote or other action, including formal or informal polling of members, is taken. Proposed law otherwise retains present law. Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action. (Adds R.S. 42:6.1(E)
