PROBATION/PAROLE. Repeals the statutory authority for the La. Board of Parole.

AN ACT1
To repeal R.S. 15:547 and 574.2, relative to the Louisiana Board of Parole; to repeal the2
statutory authority for the Louisiana Board of Parole; to direct the Louisiana State3
Law Institute to remove all statutory references to the Louisiana Board of Parole; and4
to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 15:547 and 574.2 are hereby repealed in their entirety.7
Section 2.  The Louisiana State Law Institute is hereby directed to delete all8
references to the Louisiana Board of Parole contained in Louisiana Law.9
Section 3. The provisions of this Act shall not be construed to relieve any person on10
parole supervision on January 1, 2011, of his obligation to fulfill the terms and conditions11
of his parole.12
Section 4.  The provisions of this Act shall become effective January 1, 2011. 13 SB NO. 588

DIGEST
Present law provides for the La. Board of Parole.
Present law further provides for the board composition, powers and duties, obligations, and
salaries of members of the La. Board of Parole.
Proposed law repeals these provisions of law.
Proposed law directs the La. State Law Institute to remove all references to the La. Board
of Parole in present law.
Proposed law does not relieve anyone on parole supervision as of Jan. 1, 2011, from his
obligation to fulfill the terms and conditions of his parole.
Effective Jan. 1, 2011.
