Regular Session, 2010 ENROLLED SENATE BILL NO. 616 BY SENATOR MCPHERSON AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 32:61(A)(3) and R.S. 32:63(C); and to repeal R.S. 32:62, relative to speed2 limits on highways of this state; to authorize increases of the maximum speed on3 highways; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 32:61(A)(3) and R.S. 32:63(C) are hereby enacted to read as follows:6 §61. Maximum speed limit7 A. No person shall operate a vehicle on any highway of this state in excess8 of fifty-five miles per hour, unless a lower maximum speed is posted on the highway,9 except as follows:10 * * *11 (3) A person may operate a vehicle in excess of any maximum speed set12 forth in this Chapter within a speed zone established by the department as13 provided in R.S. 32:63(C).14 * * *15 §63. Establishing of speed zones16 * * *17 C. The department shall erect appropriate signs1 giving notice thereof.2 Section 2.
