ETHICS.  Provides relative to conflict of interest laws. (gov sig)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 42:1123(32), relative to the Code of Governmental Ethics; to2
provide that any person who has a contract for advertising services with an agency3
is allowed to enter into contracts with any other person who engages in a transaction4
with that agency; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 42:1123(32) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:7

This Part shall not preclude:9

(32) Any person who has a contract for advertising services with the11
Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, the Department of Wildlife and12
Fisheries, the Department of Economic Development, or the Department of13
Agriculture and Forestry from entering into contracts with any other person who14
engages in any transaction with the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism,15
the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Department of Economic16
Development, or the Department of Agriculture and Forestry.17 SB NO. 622

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not2
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature3
by the governor, as provided in Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If4
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become5
effective on the day following such approval.6

Present law provides that present law (Code of Governmental Ethics) does not preclude any
person who has a contract for advertising services with the Department of Culture,
Recreation and Tourism from entering into contracts with any other person who engages in
any transaction with the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.
Proposed law retains present law and further provides that any person who has a contract for
advertising services with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Department of
Economic Development, or the Department of Agriculture and Forestry is not prohibited
from entering into contracts with any other person who engages in any transaction with those
agencies.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
