Allows a judge to waive or reduce an expungement fee imposed by the bureau of criminal identification and information, the district attorney, and the sheriff. (8/15/10) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 44:9(A)(5), relative to public records; to allow a judge to waive or reduce an2 expungement fee imposed by the bureau of criminal identification and information,3 the district attorney, and the sheriff; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 44:9(A)(5) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6 ยง9. DIGEST Present law provides that the bureau of criminal identification and information, the district attorney, and the sheriff may all charge a fee for expungement of a criminal record. Proposed law allows the court to waive or reduce a fee charged for expungement of a criminal record if the waiver or reduction in fees is shared equally among the bureau of criminal identification, the district attorney, and the sheriff.
