REAL ESTATE. Allows real estate appraisers to consider energy efficiency aspects when
assigning value to certain property. (8/15/10)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 37:3392(1) and (3), relative to real estate appraisers; to require2
real estate appraisers to consider energy efficiency aspects when assigning value to3
certain property; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 37:3392(1) and (3) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as6
follows: 7
ยง3392.  Definitions8
As used in this Chapter, the following words have the meaning ascribed to9
them in this Section unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:10
(1) "Appraisal" or "real estate appraisal" means an analysis, opinion, or11
conclusion relating to the nature, quality, value, or utility of specified interests in, or12
aspects, including energy efficiency, of, identified real estate, for or in expectation13
of compensation.14

(3) "Appraisal report" means any communication, written or oral, of an16

specified interests in, or aspects, including energy efficiency, of, identified real1

DIGEST
Present law defines "appraisal" or "real estate appraisal" as an analysis, opinion, or
conclusion relating to the nature, quality, value, or utility of specified interests in, or aspects
of, identified real estate, for or in expectation of compensation.
Proposed law retains present law but allows that energy efficiency aspects of the identified
real estate to be considered in determining the appraisal.
Present law defines "appraisal report" as any communication, written or oral, of an analysis,
opinion, or conclusion relating to the nature, quality, value, or utility of specified interests
in, or aspects of, identified real estate.
Proposed law retains present law but allows that energy efficiency aspects of the identified
real estate to be considered in the appraisal report.
Effective August 15, 2010.
