MOTOR VEHICLES. Provides relative to special permits for persons hauling forest

AN ACT1
To amend and reenact the introductory paragraph of R.S. 32:387.9, relative to special2
permits; to allow the secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development3
to issue annual special permits for persons hauling forest products; and to provide4
for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. The introductory paragraph of R.S. 32:387.9 is hereby amended and7
reenacted to read as follows: 8
ยง387.9. Special permit; vehicles hauling agronomic or horticultural crops or9
forest products10
Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the secretary11
shall issue annual special permits to persons who operate vehicles hauling agronomic12
or horticultural crops or forest products in their natural state. Such permits may be13
issued to either the pulling unit or the trailer contained in the combination which14
shall have a minimum of eighteen wheels. These permits shall be issued in15
accordance with the following provisions:16

DIGEST
Present law allows the secretary of DOTD to issue annual special permits to persons who
operate vehicles hauling agronomic or horticultural crops in their natural state.
Proposed law retains present law and further allows the secretary of DOTD to issue annual
special permits to persons who operate vehicles hauling forest products in their natural state.
