Extends from 20 to 25 years the length of service for the assessor of Acadia Parish to be responsible for the payment of certain insurance premiums. (7/1/10) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 47:1923(D), relative to tax assessors; to provide for the payment2 of certain insurance premiums for certain retired assessors and assessors' employees3 in Acadia Parish; and to provide for related matters.4 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 47:1923(D) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7 ยง1923. West Feliciana, the assessor shall pay the premium cost of group life, dental, group1 health, hospital, surgical, or other medical insurance for any assessor or assessor's2 employee who retires with at least twenty years of service who is at least fifty-five3 years of age or who retires with at least thirty years of service at any age. A uniform4 policy with respect to the payment of such premium shall be formulated and applied5 by the assessor of each parish listed in this Subsection.6 (2) In the parish of Acadia, the assessor shall pay the premium cost of7 group life, dental, group health, hospital, surgical, or other medical insurance8 for any assessor or assessor's employee who retires with at least twenty-five9 years of service who is at least fifty-five years of age or who retires with at least10 thirty years of service at any age. A uniform policy with respect to the payment11 of such premium shall be formulated and applied by the assessor of Acadia12 Parish.13 Section 2. The provisions of this Act shall be applicable to assessors or assessor's14 employees who do not have twenty years of service and who are not fifty-five years of age15 as of July 1, 2010.16 Section 3. Proposed law changes the requirement years of service for the tax assessor in Acadia Parish to pay the premium cost of group life, dental, health, and other insurance for any assessor or assessor's employee who retires from twenty years to twenty-five years of service who is at least fifty-five years of age or who retires with at least thirty years of service at any age. Applicable to assessors or assessor's employees who do not have 20 years of service and who are not 55 years of age as of July 1, 2010. Effective July 1, 2010. (Amends R.S. 47:1923(D))
