(gov sig) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 13:5106(F), relative to the payment of judgments against the state, state2 agencies or political subdivisions of the state; to provide with respect to the payment3 of certain judgments for which an appropriation has been made; to provide for an4 effective date; and to provide for related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 13:5106(F) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง5106. Limitations8 * * *9 F. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, in any10 suit for personal injury against the state, its departments, commissions, boards,11 state agencies, or any of its political subdivisions, when the court renders a final12 judgment in favor of the plaintiff for damages and the legislature appropriates13 funds to pay any or all amounts set forth in the judgment, the state treasurer14 shall pay the amount appropriated pursuant to the judgment upon presentment15 of a certified copy of the act appropriating the funds to pay any or all of the16 judgment. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not2 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature3 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
