SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 112

COMMENDATIONS. Commends La Musique de Louisianne Inc., (The Louisiana Music
Hall of Fame) and declares it the official honors and recognition organization and
information resource for Louisiana's music, musicians, and musical heritage.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend La Musique de Louisianne Inc., (The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame) for its2
outstanding work and declare it the official honors and recognition organization and3
information resource for Louisiana's music, musicians and musical heritage.4
WHEREAS, the people of Louisiana are blessed with numerous musical cultures and5
an abundance of Louisiana musicians and songwriters from which many original and6
extraordinary genres and songs have evolved and from which many more will come; and 7
WHEREAS, Louisiana has an abundance of the valued raw materials from which8
musical recordings can be developed for economic enhancement through music marketing,9
sales and distribution to the national and international markets; and 10
WHEREAS, the business of music is a multibillion dollar industry in the United11
States and worldwide, and music is utilized by other industries including motion pictures,12
radio, television, live performance, advertising, Internet and others; and13
WHEREAS, songs are the material that is used daily in the performance of thousands14
of jobs by broadcasters, singers, musicians, entertainers, recorders, distributors,15
administrators, marketers, and producers of music content for recordings, advertising, live16
performances, motion pictures, digital files, Internet, mobile and other digital media; and17
WHEREAS, the music business also profoundly impacts advertising and many other18 SCR NO. 112

industries helping to drive commerce through musical audio marketing and the promotion1
of multitudes of American and Louisiana products and services and Louisiana tourism; and2
WHEREAS, music is an important international export in various recorded media3
and as program content for traveling live performance entertainers; and4
WHEREAS, the art and the craft of music, the creation, production, marketing and5
publishing of music and songs stimulates commerce and the growth of the Louisiana music6
industry and related industries, and the economic well-being of Louisiana citizens and7
Louisiana artists and musicians that work and perform in these industries; and8
WHEREAS, efforts to preserve the music, musicians and musical heritage of9
Louisiana are, and have been promoted by a specific certified nonprofit organization by10
event and deed, by use of dissemination of information to all, and by use of digital and11
Internet technology extend this information to all people worldwide; and12
WHEREAS, this same organization has, and continues to, educate the world about13
the music, musicians and musical heritage of Louisiana in support of Louisiana's music14
industry and related industries, and the economic well-being of Louisiana citizens and15
Louisiana artists and musicians that work and perform in these industries; and16
WHEREAS, preservation of, and education about, Louisiana's music, musicians and17
musical heritage are two necessary steps in efforts to re-establish Louisiana's music industry18
that, in the twentieth century, dominated music worldwide; and19
WHEREAS, the legislature is proud to honor and recognize Louisiana certified20
nonprofit organizations that serve Louisiana and the global industry.21
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby22
commend, for its outstanding work, La Musique de Louisianne Inc. (The Louisiana Music23
Hall Of Fame) and declares it as the official honors and recognition organization, and24
information resource, for and about Louisiana's music, musicians and musical heritage.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the26
Governor of Louisiana and to the La Musique de Louisianne Inc.27 SCR NO. 112
