Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 120 BY SENATOR LAFLEUR AND REPRESENTATI VE PERRY A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend the efforts of the organizers of the Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership seminars and to recognize June 17, 2010, as Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Day in the state of Louisiana. WHEREAS, Hugh O'Brian, the Hollywood star who portrayed Wyatt Earp in the television series "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp," founded the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation in 1958; and WHEREAS, the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation, also known as HOBY, organizes and promotes annual leadership seminars for nearly nine thousand high school sophomores throughout the United States and abroad; and WHEREAS, the objectives of the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program are to seek out, recognize, develop, and reward leadership potential in high school students, to encourage and assist young people in their quest for self-identification and self-development, to host workshops for young people with recognized leaders in business, industry, government, science, and education, and to stimulate opportunities for young people to demonstrate their leadership abilities for the benefit of their communities and their country; and WHEREAS, to date, more than three hundred fifty-five thousand students have completed the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the efforts of the organizers of the Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership seminars and does hereby recognize June 17, 2010, as Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Day in the state of Louisiana.
