SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 30

STATE OFFICIALS. Suspends all continuing education requirements for occupations and
professions in the state.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To suspend until sixty days after final adjournment of the 2011 Regular Session of2
the Legislature all existing statutory and regulatory provisions, rules, or3
internal policies relative to mandatory or continuing education courses or4
training requirements imposed either as a prerequisite to the issuance,5
maintenance, recertification or renewal of an occupational or professional6
license for occupations and professions within the state, whereby the7
participant is required to pay for such courses or training, except for8
mandatory continuing legal education administered through the Louisiana9
Supreme Court by the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Committee.10
WHEREAS, beginning in the United States in December 2007, much of the11
industrialized world has been undergoing a recession, a pronounced deceleration of12
economic activity; and13
WHEREAS, this global recession has been taking place in an economic environment14
characterized by various imbalances and was sparked by the outbreak of the financial crisis15
of 2007-2010; and16
WHEREAS, this recession has at times been referred to as "the Great Recession";17 SCR NO. 30

WHEREAS, the citizens of Louisiana struggle daily to survive in this harsh2
economic environment; and3
WHEREAS, it is incumbent upon the leadership of this state to assist its citizens4
whenever and wherever possible.5
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana hereby suspends6
all existing statutory and regulatory provisions, rules, or internal policies relative to7
mandatory or continuing education courses or training requirements imposed either as a8
prerequisite to the issuance, maintenance, recertification or renewal of an occupational or9
professional license for occupations and professions within the state, whereby the participant10
is required to pay for such courses or training, except for mandatory continuing legal11
education administered through the Louisiana Supreme Court by the Mandatory Continuing12
Legal Education Committee.13
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this suspension shall become effective upon14
adoption of this Resolution and shall extend through the sixtieth day after final adjournment15
of the 2011 Regular Session of the Legislature of Louisiana.16

DIGEST
