SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 148

A RESOLUTION
To commend Pastor Enoch Adeboye, The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian
Church of God, and welcome him on his visit to Baton Rouge and Louisiana.
WHEREAS, The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God,
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, will visit the Dominion Sanctuary in East Baton Rouge Parish on
June 23, 2010; and
WHEREAS, The Redeemed Christian Church of God was founded in Nigeria in
1952 by Reverend Akindayoni and since 1981, the number of parishes have grown
exponentially, with at least about 2,000 parishes in Nigeria; being present in other African
nations, including C'ote D'Ivoire, Ghana, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda,
Gambia, Cameroon, and South Africa; in Europe, the countries of England, Germany, and
France; and in the United States at Dallas, Tallahassee, Houston, New York,
Washington D.C., and Chicago; as well as in the Carribean states of Haiti and Jamaica; and
WHEREAS, The Redeemed Christian Church of God is a ministry that has over
18,000 branches worldwide, with branches in over 1l0 countries; and
WHEREAS, the church is known worldwide for its Holy Ghost Service, an all night
miracle service held on the first Friday of each month, where the average headcount is about
500,000; and
WHEREAS, in 1973, Enoch Adeboye, a young university lecturer, joined The
Redeemed Christian Church of God and became an interpreter of sermons from Yoruba to
English, was ordained a pastor of the church in 1975, and became General Overseer in 1981;
and
WHEREAS, millions attend Pastor Adeboye's crusades where signs of wonder and
healing take place; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Adeboye ministers around the world and has been listed in the
Newsweek magazine as one of the "50 Most Powerful People in the World"; and SR NO. 148 ENROLLED

WHEREAS, the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana is honored by Pastor
Adeboye's visit to Baton Rouge and Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Pastor Enoch Adeboye, The General Overseer of The Redeemed
Christian Church of God, and welcome him on his visit to Baton Rouge and Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
