SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 15
BY SENATOR BROOME 
A RESOLUTION
To express condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of
Pastor Alvin Paul "Butch" Lockett, Jr.
WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the Senate has learned of the death of Alvin
Paul "Butch" Lockett, Jr., on April 2, 2010, at age sixty; and 
WHEREAS, he was a native of Port Arthur, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Lockett was a resident of Pride, Louisiana, a retired supervisor
with ExxonMobil Refinery, and an avid sports fan; and 
WHEREAS, he was a graduate of Southern University, Southern University
Laboratory School, Greater Baton Rouge Ministerial Alliance, and Ministers of Vision
Evangelical, and was pastor of Harvest Life Center Church in Baton Rouge for twenty-three
years; and 
WHEREAS, Butch Lockett was a man of God, who led by example and was a loving
husband, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and godfather, and a caring friend who will
be missed by his family and those who were privileged to know him; and 
WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his father, Alvin P. Lockett, Sr.; maternal
grandparents, Foster and Corine Reese; and paternal grandparents, Watt and Maline Lockett;
and
WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Prophetess Patricia Knox Lockett; mother,
Ogerita Reese Lockett; four daughters, Malea D. Sterling, Shela Thomas Oliver and husband
Kevin, DeAnn Bias and husband Patrick, and Christina Lockett Anderson and husband
Granville; five sisters, Alvita Ford, Pamela Banks, Cheryl L. Glover and husband Kenneth
Sr., Debora Tucker, and Dr. Kimberly Lockett; five grandchildren, Kayla K. Thomas, Patrick
K. W. Bias II, and Faith A. Bias, Granville J. Anderson II, and Katelyn G. Anderson; and
two godchildren, Alicia Ford and Jamie Self. 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express sincere condolences to the family of Pastor Alvin Paul "Butch" Lockett,
Jr., on the occasion of his passing. SR NO. 15	ENROLLED
