GAUTREAUX, GUILLORY, HEBERT, HEITMEIER, JACKSON, KOSTELKA, LAFLEUR, LONG, MARTINY, MCPHERSON, MICHOT, MORREL L, MORRISH, MOUNT, MURRAY, NEVERS, PETERSON, QUI NN, RISER, SHAW, SMITH, THOMPSON AND WALSWORTH A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the loved ones and family of United States Army Sergeant Randy Morrison upon his death while in the service of his country. WHEREAS, Randy Wayne Morrison was a native of Morgan City, Louisiana, and was a 2001 graduate of Central Catholic High School, where he lettered in and excelled in all sports; and WHEREAS, Randy loved the game of basketball and played it with great intensity, impressing his friends with his skills and abilities, and making up what he lacked in height with his hustle and heart; and WHEREAS, Randy had a deep respect for his country and was particularly moved by the terrorists attacks on America on September 11, 2001, which sparked his decision to serve in the armed forces; and WHEREAS, he enlisted in the United States Army in July 2005, and received orders to report to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, for basic combat training, where his athletic prowess served him well as he endured the harsh, tough training regimen and successfully completed his initial training; and WHEREAS, Randy was soon stationed to Fort Sam Houston, Texas, for his Advanced Individual Training to become a pharmacy technician, and distinguished himself during the school with his dedication and discipline; and WHEREAS, Randy was stationed next at Baumholder, Germany, where he would sharpen his skill and knowledge of pharmacy when he was promoted and placed in charge of medical refills at the base; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Morrison would receive letters of commendation for his outstanding service in Europe by his commanding officer, Major Darrel McGuire, and would SR NO. 37 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 also be recognized for his pharmacy tech accomplishments; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Morrison was later sent to the prestigious Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, where his job excellence led to his being named Pharmacy Tech of the Year for 2008; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Morrison would become highly respected and loved by his peers at Brook Army Medical Center as he pursued his degree in pharmacy at Incarnate Word University; and WHEREAS, all who knew and loved Sergeant Morrison were shocked at his untimely death on October 6, 2009, in San Antonio, Texas, as he prepared to leave the Army and continue his career in the field of pharmacy; and WHEREAS, the pride in and affection for Sergeant Morrison will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends who will always remember him as a concerned patriot who faithfully served his country in its war on terror. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of United States Army Sergeant Randy Wayne Morrison for their great loss and his dedication and service to the country he so loved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the family of Sergeant Morrison. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
