SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 71

A RESOLUTION
To recognize Tuesday, May 11, 2010, as Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors Day
at the legislature.
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors is celebrating its one
hundredth and second year of licensure, since first issuing licenses numbered one, two, and
three to J.B. Bice, C.P. Couvillion, and R.A. Crowson, respectively, in 1908; and
WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors are compelled to follow rules of
professional conduct in order to safeguard life and health, to protect property, to promote the
welfare of the public, and to establish and maintain a high standard of integrity in the
performance of their professional duties; and
WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors are further obligated by their
professional standards to hold paramount the safety, health, property, and welfare of the
public while in the performance of their professional duties; and
WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors are committed to maintaining the
highest levels of professional quality and to keeping abreast of the most advanced
technology in their field, including utilizing global positioning, mapping, and spatial
referencing, as they seek to ensure that they provide state-of-the-art surveying services to
the citizens of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to set aside a special day in recognition of the Louisiana
Society of Professional Surveyors.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby recognize and commend the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors and
their members across the state for their significant contributions in service to the citizens of
Louisiana and designates Tuesday, May 11, 2010, as Louisiana Society of Professional
Surveyors Day at the Legislature. SR NO. 71 ENROLLED

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be presented to the
Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors.
