AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 14:90(B), relative to provisions of Title 14 (Louisiana Criminal2
Code) of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 which are limited in applicability3
to certain political subdivisions or local areas based upon population classifications;4
to adjust population categories to retain applicability; and to provide for related5
matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. R.S. 14:90(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 8

B. The conducting, or directly assisting in the conducting, as a business, of11
any game, contest, lottery, or contrivance on board a commercial cruiseship used for12
the international carriage of passengers whereby a person risks the loss of anything13
of value in order to realize a profit is not gambling and shall not be suppressed by14
any law enforcement officer of the state of Louisiana or any of its political15
subdivisions. This Subsection shall apply only to commercial cruiseships for the16
carriage of passengers which are sailing from a port outside the continental limits of17
the United States to a port in any parish municipality of this state having a population18
of more than four hundred seventy-five three hundred thousand or any such ship19

continental limits of the United States, provided that the ship is not docked or1
anchored but is navigating en route between such ports.2
