ACT No. 43 First Extraordinary Session, 2011 HOUSE BILL NO. 30 BY REPRESENTATIVE LEGER A JOINT RESOLUTION1 Proposing to amend Article VII, Section 25(A)(2) of the Constitution of Louisiana, relative2 to ad valorem property taxes; to provide relative to minimum required bids in tax3 sales; to specify applicability to one or more political subdivisions or local areas; to4 provide for submission of the proposed amendment to the electors; and to provide5 for related matters.6 Section 1. Be it resolved by the Legislature of Louisiana, two-thirds of the members7 elected to each house concurring, that there shall be submitted to the electors of the state of8 Louisiana, for their approval or rejection in the manner provided by law, a proposal to9 amend Article VII, Section 25(A)(2) of the Constitution of Louisiana, to read as follows:10 ยง25. Tax Sales11 Section 25.(A) Tax Sales.12 * * *13 (2) If property located in a municipality with a population of more than four14 hundred fifty thousand persons as of the most recent federal decennial census the city15 of New Orleans fails to sell for the minimum required bid in the tax sale, the16 collector may offer the property for sale at a subsequent sale with no minimum17 required bid. The proceeds of the sale shall be applied to the taxes, interest, and18 costs due on the property, and any remaining deficiency shall be eliminated from the19 tax rolls.20 * * *21 Section 2.
