HLS 111ES-285 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 First Extraordinary Session, 2011 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 12 BY REPRESENTATIVE BROSSETT COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Consulate General of Ecuador upon reopening in New Orleans A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To commend the Consulate General of Ecuador upon reopening in New Orleans.2 WHEREAS, on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, the Consulate General of Ecuador3 reopened in the city of New Orleans, and it is appropriate to recognize this significant4 occasion; and5 WHEREAS, Ecuador previously had a consulate in New Orleans, but it had been6 closed since 2006; and 7 WHEREAS, the consulate plans to serve approximately ten thousand Ecuadoreans8 living in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi; and9 WHEREAS, Luis Quinones has been named consul general for New Orleans; and10 WHEREAS, the consulate's reopening is a memorable and historic event for the city11 of New Orleans and its Ecuadorean residents that merits special acknowledgment. 12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana hereby13 commends Consulate General of Ecuador upon reopening in New Orleans.14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted15 to Ecuador's consul general for New Orleans.16 HLS 111ES-285 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 12 Page 2 of 2 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
