ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 First Extraordinary Session, 2011 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 4 BY REPRESENTATIVES AUSTIN BADON AND FOIL A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend the robotics team of Kenilworth Science and Technology Charter School upon taking top honors in the 2010 Louisiana FIRST LEGO League Championship Tournament. WHEREAS, in November of 2010, hundreds of middle school students from across the state competed in the 2010 Louisiana FIRST LEGO League Championship Tournament, and the robotics team of Kenilworth Science and Technology Charter School, known as the Alienbots, won first place in both the overall Performance category and the Rising Star category; and WHEREAS, the very talented members of the team, Jabir Abdullah, Fazil Ozcelik, Matthew Kingsley, Emma Lacy, Dylan Aguiluz, and Nathaniel Batiste, performed at the highest level of excellence in the competition, and these intrepid Alienbots deserve recognition for their vital contributions to the winning effort; and WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved without the guidance and skills of coach Irfan Demir, Kenilworth's computer teacher and robotics coordinator, as well as all of the other individuals who contribute to the success of the school's robotics program; and WHEREAS, Kenilworth is a college preparatory charter school focused on science and technology, and its students have the opportunity to work directly with university scientists and researchers and to compete in national and international science competitions; and WHEREAS, the entire Kenilworth family recognizes the immense pride and distinguished honor that the Alienbots bring to their school, to the city of Baton Rouge, and to the state of Louisiana. ENROLLEDHCR NO. 4 Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Alienbots robotics team of Kenilworth Science and Technology Charter School upon winning top honors in the 2010 Louisiana FIRST LEGO League Championship Tournament and does hereby extend best wishes to the team members, the coach, and everyone involved with this fine program as they celebrate this memorable and historic event and prepare for continued success in the future. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Irfan Demir, computer teacher and robotics coordinator at Kenilworth Science and Technology Charter School.
