Ducrest, commissioner of the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions, on being named chairman of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors. WHEREAS, John P. Ducrest is currently serving as commissioner of the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions (OFI); and WHEREAS, Commissioner Ducrest has been with the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions nearly twenty-six years; and WHEREAS, from 1985 to 1994, he was a financial examiner, and his duties included conducting safety and soundness examinations of financial institutions; and WHEREAS, in 1994, Mr. Ducrest was named deputy chief examiner of OFI; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ducrest, a native and resident of Broussard, Louisiana, was first appointed commissioner of the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions on June 8, 2004, and reappointed by Governor Bobby Jindal on January 10, 2008; and WHEREAS, as commissioner, John P. Ducrest manages oversight of various entities that provide financial services to individuals and businesses in Louisiana, ranging from depository institutions such as banks and credit unions, to non-depository providers such as mortgage companies and mortgage brokers; and WHEREAS, during Hurricane Katrina, Commissioner Ducrest earned high praise for his tireless leadership in working with other state officials and the federal government to ensure a functional financial system for the citizens of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ducrest is a 1984 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration; and WHEREAS, he is a 1994 graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 8 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, Commissioner Ducrest is a certified public accountant, a certified fraud examiner, and a certified examinations manager; and WHEREAS, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) is the nationwide organization for state bank regulation, representing the bank regulators of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors has announced that Commissioner Ducrest became chairman of the CSBS effective January 14, 2011; and WHEREAS, Commissioner Ducrest has long been involved in the leadership of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors; and WHEREAS, prior to becoming chairman, Mr. Ducrest served as chairman-elect of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors, a position he held since May 2010; and WHEREAS, he was also vice chairman of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and chairman of the CSBS Legislative Committee. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate John P. Ducrest, commissioner of the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions, on being named chairman of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors, and does hereby extend to him every measure of success and happiness in his future endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted to John P. Ducrest, commissioner of the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions.
