ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 First Extraordinary Session, 2011 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 25 BY REPRESENTATIVE JOHNSON A RESOLUTION To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Triston Kane Knoll of Marksville. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives have learned of the death of Triston Kane Knoll on Monday, April 11, 2011, at the age of thirty-nine; and WHEREAS, Mr. Knoll was born on June 4, 1971, as the oldest of the five sons of longtime former Avoyelles Parish District Attorney Eddie Knoll and Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Jeanette Theriot Knoll; and WHEREAS, Mr. Knoll was the beloved father of Andrée Noelle Knoll and the brother of Eddie, Jr., Sonny, Blake, and Jonathan Knoll; and WHEREAS, a 1989 graduate of Marksville High School, Mr. Knoll graduated in 1993 from Loyola University with an undergraduate degree in political science; he received his law degree from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans in 1996 and also studied foreign legal systems in Russia, Hungary, and Austria; he practiced law in Marksville with his father's law firm for approximately ten years; and WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Mr. Knoll served on the board of directors of the Avoyelles Arts Council, and he was responsible for beginning Marksville's tradition of holding Halloween at the Courthouse Square for children and their families; and WHEREAS, Mr. Knoll was a member of the American Bar Association, the Louisiana Bar Association, the Avoyelles Parish Bar Association, which he served as secretary/treasurer from 2004-2005, the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America; he was admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana; he was also listed in the 2003-2004 edition of America's Registry of Outstanding Professionals; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 25 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, in 2007, Mr. Knoll was inducted into the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame, and in 2008, he was a candidate for judge for the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal; and WHEREAS, with the death of Mr. Knoll, Louisiana has lost one of her finest citizens; and WHEREAS, Mr. Knoll, who was admired by all whose lives he touched, leaves behind a rich and unique legacy and is greatly missed; and WHEREAS, although the death of Mr. Knoll has left a tremendous void in his community, his memory shall live on forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved him. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Triston Kane Knoll of Marksville, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful man will forever bring to his family, friends, community, and state.
