COMMENDATIONS: Commends the St. James High School Lady Wildcats basketball
team upon winning the 2011 Class 3A state championship
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the St. James High School girls' basketball team upon winning the 2011 Class2
3A state championship.3
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the St. James High School girls' basketball4
team upon the completion of a sensational 2010-2011 season and to congratulate the players5
and coaches on winning the Class 3A state basketball championship for the first time in6
school history; and7
WHEREAS, the Lady Wildcats claimed the state championship title in the Ladies8
Top 28 Tournament at the University Center on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana9
University on Saturday, March 5, 2011, by defeating the Avoyelles High School's Lady10
Mustangs with a final score of 61-49; and11
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence,12
and each intrepid Lady Wildcat deserves recognition for her vital contribution to the winning13
effort; and14
WHEREAS, with sixteen points and eighteen rebounds, Brandi Jeffery was named15
the game's Most Outstanding Player; and16
WHEREAS, starters for the Lady Wildcats were Brandi Jeffery, Anika Duronslet,17
Markeshia Keller, Ashton (Renae) Jones, and Kaitlyn Bartholomew; and18
WHEREAS, Coach Justin Adams and assistant coach Steve Steib have demonstrated19
the kind of leadership and motivational skills needed to produce winners both on and off the20

WHEREAS, the team's championship 27-8 season upholds the glorious tradition of1
the Lady Wildcats; and2
WHEREAS, the St. James High School girls' basketball team merits a special3
measure of commendation for the tremendous honor and pride that it brings to its school and4
community and to the state of Louisiana.5
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the6
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the players and coaches of the St. James7
High School girls' basketball team for winning the 2011 Class 3A state championship, does8
hereby express sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the Lady Wildcats in recognition of9
their outstanding athletic abilities and their highly successful season, and does hereby extend10
best wishes for continued success in the future.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted12
to the head coach of the St. James High School girls' basketball team.13
