HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 6
BY REPRESENTATIVE AUBERT
A RESOLUTION
To commend the St. James High School girls' basketball team upon winning the 2011 Class
3A state championship.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the St. James High School girls' basketball
team upon the completion of a sensational 2010-2011 season and to congratulate the players
and coaches on winning the Class 3A state basketball championship for the first time in
school history; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Wildcats claimed the state championship title in the Ladies
Top 28 Tournament at the University Center on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana
University on Saturday, March 5, 2011, by defeating the Avoyelles High School's Lady
Mustangs with a final score of 61-49; and
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence,
and each intrepid Lady Wildcat deserves recognition for her vital contribution to the winning
effort; and
WHEREAS, with sixteen points and eighteen rebounds, Brandi Jeffery was named
the game's Most Outstanding Player; and
WHEREAS, starters for the Lady Wildcats were Brandi Jeffery, Anika Duronslet,
Markeshia Keller, Ashton (Renae) Jones, and Kaitlyn Bartholomew; and
WHEREAS, Coach Justin Adams and assistant coach Steve Steib have demonstrated
the kind of leadership and motivational skills needed to produce winners both on and off the
court; and
WHEREAS, the team's championship 27-8 season upholds the glorious tradition of
the Lady Wildcats; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 6

WHEREAS, the St. James High School girls' basketball team merits a special
measure of commendation for the tremendous honor and pride that it brings to its school and
community and to the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the players and coaches of the St. James
High School girls' basketball team for winning the 2011 Class 3A state championship, does
hereby express sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the Lady Wildcats in recognition of
their outstanding athletic abilities and their highly successful season, and does hereby extend
best wishes for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the head coach of the St. James High School girls' basketball team.
