HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 8
BY REPRESENTATIVE HOWARD
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Pleasant Hill High School boys' basketball team upon winning the 2011
Class C state championship.
WHEREAS, the Pleasant Hill High School boys' basketball team completed a
sensational season, earning the title of 2011 Class C state champions after defeating Family
Christian Academy by a score of 79-61 to win the thrilling state championship game at the
Cajundome at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; and
WHEREAS, the historic victory marked the Eagles' fourth consecutive trip to the
Top 28 and second straight trip to the Class C title game and was the culmination of an
unforgettable season; and
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence
throughout the 2010-2011 season and playoffs, and each of these great Eagles deserves
recognition for his vital contribution to the winning effort; and
WHEREAS, the Eagles were led in their win by teammate Jacorius Turner, who was
named the Outstanding Player of the championship game; and
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
without the guidance and skills of head coach Brian D. Williams as well as all of the other
individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's basketball program; and
WHEREAS, all Pleasant Hill High School alumni and fans recognize the immense
pride and distinguished honor that the Eagles' team brings to its school, community, and
state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Pleasant Hill High School boys'
basketball team upon winning the 2011 Class C state championship and does hereby extend ENROLLED HR NO. 8

best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine basketball program
as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Brian D. Williams, head coach of the Pleasant Hill High School boys' basketball team.
