SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 15
BY SENATOR LONG AND REPRESENTATI VE HOWARD 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Pleasant Hill High School Eagles upon winning the
Class C boys basketball championship.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the Pleasant Hill High School Eagles upon winning the Class C boys2
basketball championship.3
WHEREAS, the Pleasant Hill High School Eagles, making their fourth consecutive4
trip to the Top 28 Basketball Tournament and second straight in the Class C title game, used5
an eighteen to three run in the second quarter to pull away from the Family Christian Flames6
en route to a seventy-nine to sixty-one win in the Class C finals of the LHSAA/State Farm7
Top 28 Tournament in Lafayette, Louisiana; and8
WHEREAS, the Class C title game most valuable player, Jacorius Turner, pumped9
in a team high sixteen points as the Eagles, with a twenty-seven and eleven record, won its10
first state title since 1995; and11
WHEREAS, Pleasant Hill Coach Brian D. Williams said the team stayed strong in12
their faith and it paid off; and13
WHEREAS, although falling short last season to capture the title, the Eagles returned14
to the Cajundome with renewed confidence and it really showed during the second and third15
quarters, when they outscored the Flames forty-seven to twenty-two to take full control of16
the game; and17
WHEREAS, senior Ladarius Holmes, who added thirteen points to the victory, said18 SCR NO. 15

the win felt so much better than the last three years; and1
WHEREAS, both teams struggled early in the first quarter, the two teams combined2
shot 23.1 percent from the field; and3
WHEREAS, Pleasant Hill was able to get into a rhythm late in the first period to take4
an eleven to four lead before Family Christian's Jocquil Clark closed the gap to five with a5
fifteen foot jumper at the buzzer; and6
WHEREAS, Clark's jumper did little to deter the Eagles of Pleasant Hill, as they used7
an eighteen to three run to end the second quarter with a thirty-five to seventeen halftime8
advantage; and9
WHEREAS, Family Christian's Joseph Larson did everything he could to keep the10
Flames in it, scoring all eleven of his teams' points in the second quarter, but the Flames11
could not keep the Pleasant Hill High School Eagles from pulling away with the victory; and12
WHEREAS, the Pleasant Hill High School Eagles roster includes Cody Carter,13
Jocquil Clark, Tracy Fields, Brady Green, Aaron Holmes, Jacoldy Holmes, Ladarius14
Holmes, Ryheem Maxie, Chris McGee, Demotre' Sanders, Jaleen Scott, Demorigeal Turner,15
Jacorius Turner, Rashat Turner, Jaboris Wisemen, and Keundrick Wiseman.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby17
commend the Pleasant Hill High School Eagles upon winning the Class C boys basketball18
championship.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to20
Pleasant Hill High School basketball Coach Brian D. Williams.21
