SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 15
BY SENATOR LONG AND REPRESENTATI VE HOWARD 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend the Pleasant Hill High School Eagles upon winning the Class C boys
basketball championship.
WHEREAS, the Pleasant Hill High School Eagles, making their fourth consecutive
trip to the Top 28 Basketball Tournament and second straight in the Class C title game, used
an eighteen to three run in the second quarter to pull away from the Family Christian Flames
en route to a seventy-nine to sixty-one win in the Class C finals of the LHSAA/State Farm
Top 28 Tournament in Lafayette, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the Class C title game most valuable player, Jacorius Turner, pumped
in a team high sixteen points as the Eagles, with a twenty-seven and eleven record, won its
first state title since 1995; and
WHEREAS, Pleasant Hill Coach Brian D. Williams said the team stayed strong in
their faith and it paid off; and
WHEREAS, although falling short last season to capture the title, the Eagles returned
to the Cajundome with renewed confidence and it really showed during the second and third
quarters, when they outscored the Flames forty-seven to twenty-two to take full control of
the game; and
WHEREAS, senior Ladarius Holmes, who added thirteen points to the victory, said
the win felt so much better than the last three years; and
WHEREAS, both teams struggled early in the first quarter, the two teams combined
shot 23.1 percent from the field; and
WHEREAS, Pleasant Hill was able to get into a rhythm late in the first period to take
an eleven to four lead before Family Christian's Jocquil Clark closed the gap to five with a
fifteen foot jumper at the buzzer; and SCR NO. 15	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, Clark's jumper did little to deter the Eagles of Pleasant Hill, as they used
an eighteen to three run to end the second quarter with a thirty-five to seventeen halftime
advantage; and
WHEREAS, Family Christian's Joseph Larson did everything he could to keep the
Flames in it, scoring all eleven of his team's points in the second quarter, but the Flames
could not keep the Pleasant Hill High School Eagles from pulling away with the victory; and
WHEREAS, the Pleasant Hill High School Eagles roster includes Cody Carter,
Jocquil Clark, Tracy Fields, Brady Green, Aaron Holmes, Jacoldy Holmes, Ladarius
Holmes, Ryheem Maxie, Chris McGee, Demotre' Sanders, Jaleen Scott, Demorigeal Turner,
Jacorius Turner, Rashat Turner, Jaboris Wisemen, and Keundrick Wiseman.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Pleasant Hill High School Eagles upon winning the Class C boys basketball
championship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Pleasant Hill High School basketball Coach Brian D. Williams.
