AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 47:1923(D)(1), relative to tax assessors; to require the payment2
by an assessor of premiums for group insurance for coverage of certain retirees of3
the office of the assessor in certain parishes; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 47:1923(D)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6
ยง1923.  Authority for assessors separately or jointly to contract for insurance;7
payment of premiums8

D.(1) In the parishes of Allen, Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles,10
Beauregard, Bienville, Calcasieu, Cameron, Claiborne, Concordia, DeSoto, East11
Baton Rouge, Franklin, Iberia, Iberville, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lafourche,12
LaSalle, Madison, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Orleans, Ouachita, Plaquemines, Pointe13
Coupee, Rapides, Red River, Sabine, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. John14
the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Martin, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Terrebonne, Union,15
Vermilion, Vernon, Washington, Webster, West Baton Rouge, West Carroll, and16
West Feliciana, and any parish with a population of between ten thousand and eleven17
thousand according to the latest federal decennial census, the assessor shall pay the18
premium cost of group life, dental, group health, hospital, surgical, or other medical19
insurance for any assessor or assessor's employee who retires with at least twenty20
years of service who is at least fifty-five years of age or who retires with at least21

such premium shall be formulated and applied by the assessor of each parish listed1
in this Subsection.2
