AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 15:255(O), relative to witness fees to off-duty law enforcement officers in the2
City Court of Crowley; to authorize the city of Crowley to adopt an ordinance to use3
surplus fees in the fund to equip the police department of the city of Crowley; and4
to provide for related matters.5
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published6
as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of7
Louisiana.8
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:9
Section 1. R.S. 15:255(O) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 10
ยง255. Witness fees to off-duty law enforcement officers11

O. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the city of Crowley13
may adopt an ordinance which provides that on September first of each year, the14
amount of money in the witness fee fund provided for the City Court of Crowley15
which exceeds thirty thousand dollars shall be transferred to the general fund of the16
city of Crowley to be used solely for purchasing equipment for the police department17
of the city of Crowley. For the purposes of this Subsection, the balance of thirty18
thousand dollars required to be kept in the witness fee fund shall mean thirty19
thousand dollars in unexpended and unencumbered funds, and under no20 ENROLLEDHB NO. 4

circumstances shall the balance in the witness fee fund be reduced below thirty1
thousand dollars as a result of a transfer made pursuant to the provisions of this2
Subsection.3
