ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE PERMT:  Provides for Class A caterer permits for certain
facilities
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 26:271.2(introductory paragraph) and to enact R.S. 26:271.2(5),2
relative to Class A retail permits for beverages of low alcoholic content; to authorize3
a caterer's permit for certain facilities; to provide for rulemaking; and to provide for4
related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 26:271.2(introductory paragraph) is hereby amended and reenacted7
and R.S. 26:271.2(5) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8
ยง271.2.  Class A permit; definitions9
The commissioner shall issue the following four five types of Class A retail10
permits for beverages of low alcoholic content:11

(5) Class A-Caterer:13
(a) The primary purpose shall be to sell and serve alcoholic beverages at14
retail on the premises of an establishment that is not otherwise licensed pursuant to15
this Title.16
(b) The commissioner shall adopt rules in accordance with the17
Administrative Procedure Act establishing any additional requirements applicable18
to a Class A-Caterer's permit.19

Abstract: Authorizes the issuance of a Class A-Caterer permit for sale of alcoholic
beverages at certain facilities.
Present law provides for the issuance of four types of permits for the sale of alcoholic
beverages of low alcoholic content for consumption on the premises:  Class A-General,
Class A-Restaurant, Class A-Special, and Class A-Restaurant-Conditional.
Proposed law retains present law and authorizes the issuance of a Class A-Caterer permit.
Proposed law provides that the commissioner of alcohol and tobacco control shall adopt
rules in accordance with the APA to provide for additional criteria for the permit.
