HOUSE BILL NO. 62
BY REPRESENTATIVE JOHNSON
APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT:  Appropriates funds for payment of judgment against
the state in the matter of "Mark and Michelle Gagnard, et al v. Kansas City Southern
Railway, et al"
AN ACT1
To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2011-2
2012 to be used to pay the consent judgment against the state in the suit entitled3
"Mark and Michelle Gagnard individually and on behalf of their minor child, Kelsie4
Gagnard v. Kansas City Southern Railway Company, Chrysler Corporation, Deanna5
Gaspard and Financial Indemnity Company"; to provide for court costs; and to6
provide for related matters.7
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:8
Section 1.  The sum of Five Thousand and No/100 ($5,000.00) Dollars, plus court9
costs in the amount of Five Hundred Fifty-Six and 80/100 ($556.80) Dollars, is hereby10
appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2011-2012 to11
be used to pay the consent judgment against the state in the suit entitled "Mark and Michelle12
Gagnard individually and on behalf of their minor child, Kelsie Gagnard v. Kansas City13
Southern Railway Company, Chrysler Corporation, Deanna Gaspard and Financial14
Indemnity Company", bearing Number 2009-3059, Division A, on the docket of the Twelfth15
Judicial District Court, parish of Avoyelles, state of Louisiana.16
Section 2. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2011; if vetoed by the governor17
and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,18
2011, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later. 19 HLS 11RS-571	ORIGINAL
