HIGHWAYS: Changes names and routes of certain by ways
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 56:1948.5(52) and (53), relative to Louisiana Byways2
designations; to delete the Bienville Trace I and Bienville Trace II byway3
designations; to designate a section of certain highways as the Boom or Bust Byway;4
to designate a section of certain highways as the Dixie Overland Byway; and to5
provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. R.S. 56:1948.5(52) and (53) are hereby amended and reenacted to read8
as follows:9

The following highways and sections of highways are hereby designated as11
Louisiana Byways:12

(52) Bienville Trace I The Dixie Overland Byway:14
(a) LA 2 from Union and Claiborne Parish line in the west to US 65 in the15
east, this route being called the Bienville Trace U.S. 80 at its intersection with16
U.S.167 south in Ruston, to the U.S. 80/I-20 interchange in eastern Madison Parish17
near Monroe, continuing east on I-20 to the Louisiana-Mississippi state border on the18

(b) US 80 from the Ouachita and Lincoln Parish line in the west to the state1
of Mississippi in the east.2
(c) LA 4 from Jackson and Bienville Parish line in the west to its junction3
with LA 559, continuing on LA 559 to Enterprise in the east.4
(d) LA 34 from the Endom Bridge in Monroe in the north to LA 557, from5
LA 557 to LA 4 at Vixen, from LA 4 at Vixen to LA 849, from LA 849 to LA 1266
at Holum with an extension to Copenhagen Historic Site, from LA 126 at Holum to7
the Caldwell and LaSalle Parish line in the south.8
(e) LA 137 from the north boundary of the Rayville town limits to LA 135,9
from LA 135 to LA 618, from LA 618 to LA 4 Winnsboro, from LA 4 Winnsboro10
to LA 128, from LA 128 to LA 605 at Saint Joseph, from LA 605 to the state of11
Mississippi line in the south.12
(f) LA 134 starting at LA 65 in the north to LA 17 at Epps with an extension13
to the Poverty Point State Historic Site on LA 577, from LA 17 at Epps to the I-2014
at Delhi in the south.15
(g) LA 142 from the state of Arkansas line in the north to LA 593, from LA16
593 to Collinston, from Collinston to LA 138, from LA 138 to LA 554 at Perryville17
in the south.18
(h) US 65 from the state of Arkansas line in the north to LA 605, then on LA19
605 to LA 604, then LA 604 to LA 128, then LA 128 to US 65 and continuing south20
on US 65 to the Mississippi state line.21
(53) Bienville Trace II Boom or Bust Byway:22
(a) LA 2 from the Texas line to the Claiborne Parish/Union Parish line this23
section to be named the Bienville Trace. The byway corridor is primarily along LA24
2 between the Louisiana/Texas line and Lisbon. A loop anchors the western end from25
LA 1 at its intersection with LA 173, thence along LA 173 to LA 3049 to Gilliam,26
thence from Gilliam to LA 2 on U.S. 71, thence along LA 2 to rejoin LA 1. An27
eastern loop is between Lisbon and Aycock on LA 518, between Aycock and Homer28
