ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 157 BY REPRESENTATIVE CARTER A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend John Peterson of Louisiana State University upon winning the 2011 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men's Golf Championship. WHEREAS, on June 2, 2011, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, John Peterson of the Louisiana State University men's golf team won the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men's Golf Championship; and WHEREAS, with this thrilling victory, Mr. Peterson made history as only the third LSU men's golfer ever to win the national title and the first since 1941; and WHEREAS, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, Mr. Peterson is one of the most decorated players in the history of the LSU men's golf program and was named a 2011 PING First- Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America; and WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson's 5-under 211 for the championship included a course record and career best 7-under par 65 in the second round, and he clinched the championship with an even-par 72 in the final round; and WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson's championship victory, along with Austin Ernst's of the LSU women's team, makes Louisiana State University the first school in history to hold both the men's and women's titles in the same calendar year; and WHEREAS, John Peterson merits a special measure of commendation for the tremendous pride and honor he brings to his family and friends, to Louisiana State University, and to the state of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend John Peterson of Louisiana State University upon winning the 2011 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men's Golf Championship, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his outstanding achievements in the great sport of golf, and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in his future endeavors.
