COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Lafayette Little League Challenger Team in its effort
to travel to the Little League World Series
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the Lafayette Little League Challenger Team in its effort to travel to the Little2
League World Series.3
WHEREAS, the Challenger Division was established as a separate division of Little4
League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges to play the game of5
baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide;6
and7
WHEREAS, Lafayette Little League’s Challenger Team and the Baugo Little League8
Challenger Team from Elkhart, Indiana, have been named as the two teams in the United9
States, representing more than thirty thousand Challenger players and more than nine10
hundred leagues worldwide, to play at the sixty-fifth Little League World Series in11
Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on August 27, 2011; and12
WHEREAS, this is the first time a Challenger Team from Louisiana has been so13
honored, and it is a tribute to the dedication and hard work of the Lafayette Little League14
Board, and the parents, players and the community who have supported these children; and15
WHEREAS, the players in the Challenger Division take the field each week,16
knowing that it is not about winning or losing, but about the opportunity to play the game17
of baseball; and18
WHEREAS, the invitation to travel to the Little League World Series in19
Williamsport, Pennsylvania, to play baseball is a tremendous honor for the two Challenger20 HLS 11RS-2731 ORIGINAL

Teams and the communities they represent, and will also require significant support from1
their respective communities; and2
WHEREAS, The Legislature of Louisiana wishes to recognize and support the3
Lafayette Little League Challenger Team in its effort to travel to the Little League World4
Series, and also challenges the communities represented by the Baugo Little League5
Challenger Team in Elkhart, Indiana, to do the same.6
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby7
commend the Lafayette Little League Challenger Team in its effort to travel to the Little8
League World Series.9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted10
to the coach of the Lafayette Little League Challenger Team.11
