HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 166
BY REPRESENTATIVES ROBIDEAUX AND HARDY
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend the Lafayette Little League Challenger Team in its effort to travel to the Little
League World Series.
WHEREAS, the Challenger Division was established as a separate division of Little
League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges to play the game of
baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide;
and
WHEREAS, Lafayette Little League’s Challenger Team and the Baugo Little League
Challenger Team from Elkhart, Indiana, have been named as the two teams in the United
States, representing more than thirty thousand Challenger players and more than nine
hundred leagues worldwide, to play at the sixty-fifth Little League World Series in
Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on August 27, 2011; and
WHEREAS, this is the first time a Challenger Team from Louisiana has been so
honored, and it is a tribute to the dedication and hard work of the Lafayette Little League
Board, and the parents, players and the community who have supported these children; and
WHEREAS, the players in the Challenger Division take the field each week,
knowing that it is not about winning or losing, but about the opportunity to play the game
of baseball; and
WHEREAS, the invitation to travel to the Little League World Series in
Williamsport, Pennsylvania, to play baseball is a tremendous honor for the two Challenger
Teams and the communities they represent, and will also require significant support from
their respective communities; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature of Louisiana wishes to recognize and support the
Lafayette Little League Challenger Team in its effort to travel to the Little League World ENROLLEDHCR NO. 166

Series, and also challenges the communities represented by the Baugo Little League
Challenger Team in Elkhart, Indiana, to do the same.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Lafayette Little League Challenger Team in its effort to travel to the Little
League World Series.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the coach of the Lafayette Little League Challenger Team.
