ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 62 BY REPRESENTATIVES BARRAS, CHAMPAGNE, AND SAM JONES AND SENATOR MILLS A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend the Catholic High School Lady Panthers gymnastics team upon winning the 2011 state championship. WHEREAS, the Lady Panthers gymnastics team of Catholic High School in New Iberia completed a sensational season on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at the state championship meet at Baton Rouge Magnet High School; and WHEREAS, this thrilling victory was the culmination of another unforgettable season for the Lady Panthers of Catholic High School (CHS); and WHEREAS, the Division II team clinched the team's exciting overall win with an exceptional finish in the uneven bars routine, with Allison Talley placing first with a 9.75 score, Kristynn LeLeux finishing with a 9.5 score, and Linzee LeJeune earning a 9.3 score; and WHEREAS, CHS won the Division II championship with Allison Talley, Kristynn LeLeux, Linzee LeJeune, Riece LeBlanc, and Chloe Colwart competing; and WHEREAS, Morgann LeLeux, who medaled in all events, finished as the state individual runner-up in Division I, winning the floor exercise with a phenomenal 9.9 score; she and Haley Miller competed on the Division I team and brought home a third-place finish for CHS; and WHEREAS, the Division III team, including Remi LeBlanc, Courtney LeBlanc, Tiffany LeBlanc, Cameron Thornton, and Candace Guilbeau, also performed well, finishing fourth; and WHEREAS, these CHS athletes competed at the highest level of excellence throughout the season, and each of these great gymnasts deserves recognition for her vital contributions to the winning effort; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 62 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the gymnastics team could not have been achieved without the guidance and skills of head coach Shane LeLeux and all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's gymnastics program; and WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the Lady Panthers, and all Catholic High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, to the New Iberia community, and to the state of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Lady Panthers gymnastics team of Catholic High School in New Iberia upon winning the 2011 state championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the gymnasts, head coach, and everyone involved with this fine gymnastics program as they celebrate their superb season and prepare for continued success in the future.
