HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 107
BY REPRESENTATIVE GALLOT
A RESOLUTION
To commend Sherri McConnell for her tireless service to the state of Louisiana and for her
dedicated and productive service with the Louisiana Department of Economic
Development, office of entertainment.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Sherri McConnell for her outstanding
service as director of the office of entertainment, where she served the people of Louisiana
with dedication and distinction; and
WHEREAS, Sherri McConnell began her career with the office of entertainment on
February 5, 2007, and channeled her enthusiasm for the creative industries into improving
opportunities for film, music, digital interactive media, and live performance programs in
Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, under her guidance, the state's entertainment industry has now
experienced its fifth consecutive year of growth, capitalizing on the state's native creative
culture and providing sustainable, well-paid jobs for its citizens; and
WHEREAS, because of Sherri McConnell's aggressive pursuit of digital media
incentives, Louisiana now boasts more than one hundred three thousand professionals with
a background in software development or digital media; and
WHEREAS, due to Sherri McConnell's drive and vision, Louisiana is ranked third
in the country for the number of film productions shot in the state, with more than three
hundred motion pictures being filmed in locations around our great state; and
WHEREAS, Sherri McConnell's commitment to capturing and spotlighting
Louisiana's indigenous creative class led to the creation of the nation's first tax incentive
package focused solely on the creation, growth, and expansion of the live concert and

WHEREAS, recognizing the value of our musical heritage, Sherri McConnell and
the office of entertainment developed an incentive program that allowed our musicians to
stay in Louisiana and remain a treasured cultural asset of the state; and
WHEREAS, as a result of her untiring efforts at the helm of the office of
entertainment, Louisiana has become known as an entertainment goldmine, which has
generated more than two billion dollars in new revenue and spurred the creation of thousands
of high wage jobs, state of the art infrastructure development, and new business
opportunities.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Sherri McConnell for her years of dedicated
service to the people of Louisiana and does hereby express appreciation for her exemplary
service to the state as the director of the office of entertainment in the Louisiana Department
of Economic Development.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Sherri McConnell.
