HLS 11RS-3674 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 168 BY REPRESENTATIVE BARROW COMMENDATIONS: Commends Southern University students who participated in researching and creating the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan A RESOLUTION1 To commend the students of Southern University who participated in researching and2 creating the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan.3 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the students of Southern University who4 took part in researching and creating the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community5 Development Plan; and6 WHEREAS, a number of Southern University students were collaborators in the7 development of the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan; and8 WHEREAS, the Scotlandville plan is now a part of FUTUREBR, the East Baton9 Rouge Comprehensive Plan that is based on an inclusive, parishwide process to craft a new10 vision, policy framework, and implementation strategies that reflect the needs and11 aspirations of parish citizens; and12 WHEREAS, the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan, which13 identifies and analyzes the relationships between the economy, transportation, housing, the14 physical environment, land use and zoning, social services, and other community15 components, is a vital component in the planning of the future of the Scotlandville16 community; and17 WHEREAS, the students performed at the highest level of excellence in their work18 on this project, and each of these fine individuals deserves recognition for vital contributions19 to this worthy effort: architecture students Khrystina London, Lauren Edwards, Sophie20 HLS 11RS-3674 ORIGINAL HR NO. 168 Page 2 of 2 Balunywa, Ronald Harris, Kevin Lafleur, Phillip Anderson, Marlon Stepp, Whitley1 Calloway, Peace Scott, Taikian Brooks, Marlena Omotayo, Sean Chambliss, and Evan2 Hutchins and history student Phillip-Baron Rivera; and3 WHEREAS, the grand unveiling of Scotlandville Comprehensive Community4 Development Plan is taking place on Thursday, June 30, 2011, and the students involved in5 its creation merit a special measure of commendation for their outstanding contributions.6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the7 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the students of Southern University who8 participated in researching and creating the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community9 Development Plan and does hereby express enduring appreciation for the pride and honor10 they bring to their university, to the community of Scotlandville, and to the state of11 Louisiana.12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted13 to Jason Lockhart, assistant professor, Southern University School of Architecture.14 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
