ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 168 BY REPRESENTATIVE BARROW A RESOLUTION To commend the students of Southern University who participated in researching and creating the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan. WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the students of Southern University who took part in researching and creating the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan; and WHEREAS, a number of Southern University students were collaborators in the development of the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan; and WHEREAS, the Scotlandville plan is now a part of FUTUREBR, the East Baton Rouge Comprehensive Plan that is based on an inclusive, parishwide process to craft a new vision, policy framework, and implementation strategies that reflect the needs and aspirations of parish citizens; and WHEREAS, the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan, which identifies and analyzes the relationships between the economy, transportation, housing, the physical environment, land use and zoning, social services, and other community components, is a vital component in the planning of the future of the Scotlandville community; and WHEREAS, the students performed at the highest level of excellence in their work on this project, and each of these fine individuals deserves recognition for vital contributions to this worthy effort: architecture students Khrystina London, Lauren Edwards, Sophie Balunywa, Ronald Harris, Kevin Lafleur, Phillip Anderson, Marlon Stepp, Whitley Calloway, Peace Scott, Taikian Brooks, Marlena Omotayo, Sean Chambliss, and Evan Hutchins and history student Phillip-Baron Rivera; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 168 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the grand unveiling of Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan is taking place on Thursday, June 30, 2011, and the students involved in its creation merit a special measure of commendation for their outstanding contributions. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the students of Southern University who participated in researching and creating the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan and does hereby express enduring appreciation for the pride and honor they bring to their university, to the community of Scotlandville, and to the state of Louisiana. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Jason Lockhart, assistant professor, Southern University School of Architecture.
