HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2
BY REPRESENTATIVE JANE SMITH
A RESOLUTION
To commend Chandler Burns of Bossier Parish for his outstanding accomplishments.
WHEREAS, Chandler Burns serves as an excellent role model to his peers by setting
and following a positive example; and
WHEREAS, Chandler has been selected as the fourth grade Bossier Parish fiction
winner for the Young Author's Contest; and
WHEREAS, Chandler received first place and best overall project in the sociology
division in the legacy social studies fair; he participated in the regional social studies fair at
Louisiana State University at Shreveport, received first place in division 1 sociology, and
has qualified for the state competition on May 10, 2011, in Lake Charles; and
WHEREAS, Chandler won second place for his drawing, "Cooper's Hawk", in the
Louisiana Society of Animal Artists' ArkLaTex Youth Wildlife Art Competition, and his
artwork is currently on display at the Louisiana State Museum gallery in Shreveport; and
WHEREAS, in addition to these accomplishments, Chandler has maintained straight
As throughout elementary school and has reached his Accelerated Reader goal every nine
weeks since beginning the program in the first grade; and
WHEREAS, an exceptional young man, Chandler serves as an inspiration to others
because of his integrity and his steadfast dedication to excelling academically; and
WHEREAS, the strength of our communities in Louisiana and the overall vitality of
American society depend in great measure upon the intelligence and talents of young people
like Chandler Burns, who brings tremendous pride to his family, friends, community, and
state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Chandler Burns of Bossier Parish for his
outstanding achievements, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his extraordinary ENROLLEDHR NO. 2

gifts and talents, and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and
happiness in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Chandler Burns.
