ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 41 BY REPRESENTATIVE ROSALIND JONES A RESOLUTION To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Patricia Smith. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives have learned of the death of Patricia Smith at the age of sixty; and WHEREAS, born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on October 4, 1950, Patricia Smith was the beloved mother of two and the grandmother of five; and WHEREAS, Patricia Smith was a graduate of Central State University, where she received a bachelor's degree in education, and she earned a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma; and WHEREAS, Patricia Smith served with valor in the United States Air Force from 1979 until 1992; she attained the rank of captain and received an honorable discharge; and WHEREAS, in 2010, Patricia Smith retired from the United States Department of Justice, where she served with distinction as an administrative officer; previously, she served as an administrative clerk with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in Oklahoma City; and WHEREAS, Patricia Smith was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the Oklahoma Trailblazers Ski Club, and the Community Association for the Welfare of School Children; and WHEREAS, with the death of Patricia Smith, Louisiana has lost one of her finest citizens, a woman who was admired by all whose lives she touched, leaves behind a rich and unique legacy, and is greatly missed; and WHEREAS, although the death of Patricia Smith has left a tremendous void in her community, her memory shall live on forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved her. ENROLLEDHR NO. 41 Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Patricia Smith, does hereby recognize and record for posterity her outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful woman will forever bring to her family, friends, community, state, and nation.
