AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 40:1749.18(C), relative to underground utilities and facilities;2
to require the expedited certification for certain regional notification centers; and to3
provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 40:1749.18(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6
ยง1749.18. Certification of a regional notification center by Department of Public7
Safety and Corrections8

C. The department shall include in the rules and regulations procedures for10
certification by the department and may charge a fee for the certification process, not11
to exceed two thousand five hundred dollars. The department shall expedite12
certification for regional notification center applicants as defined in R.S.13
40:1749.12(12)(b) or (c). The rules and regulations required by this Section shall be14
promulgated by the department within six months after June 29, 1999.15

Present law requires DPS&C to promulgate rules and regulations in accordance with the
APA to establish a certification program for regional notification centers.
Proposed law retains present law and requires DPS&C to expedite certification for certain
regional notification center applicants as defined by law.
Effective August 15, 2011.
