SPECIAL DISTRICTS. Provides for the per diem of the board of commissioners of the
Vermilion Parish Hospital Service District No. 2. (8/15/11)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 46:1053(L)(2), relative to the Vermilion Parish Hospital Service2
District No. 2; to provide for the amount and limitation on the payment of per diem3
to members of the board of commissioners of the district; and to provide for related4
matters.5
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. R.S. 46:1053(L)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:8

(2) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Section to the contrary, the13
governing authority of Vermilion Parish may permit a per diem to each member of14
the commission in an amount not to exceed fifty two hundred dollars for each day15
of his or her attendance at meetings of the commission not to exceed twenty-four16
regular meetings thirty-six days per year and twelve special meetings per year,17 SB NO. 109

payable out of funds of the hospital service district.1

DIGEST
Present law authorizes the Vermilion Parish Police Jury to permit per diem payments to each
member of the board of commissioners of the Vermilion Parish Hospital Service District No.
2 in an amount not to exceed $50 per day for attendance at commission meetings, not to
exceed 24 regular meetings and 12 special meetings per year. Provides that this per diem be
paid out of funds of the hospital service district.
Proposed law increases the amount of authorized per diem to $200 per day for attendance
at meetings not to exceed 36 days per year. Deletes authorization for per diem payments for
12 special meetings per year. Retains provision that this per diem be paid out of funds of the
district.
Effective August 15, 2011.
