SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 23
BY SENATOR BROOME AND REPRESENTATI VE DOWNS 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To designate May 16, 2011, as "YMCA Day in Louisiana."
WHEREAS, the mission of the YMCA is to build strong kids, strong families and
strong communities through programs that instill values of caring, honesty, respect and
responsibility; and
WHEREAS, the YMCAs throughout Louisiana are dedicated to providing programs
and services to more than 100,000 children, youth, and adults; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs support the development of integrated,
community-based strategies for serving children and families; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs stand ready to support state government efforts to
provide developmental programs for children and youth, strengthen families, and mobilize
and coordinate broad efforts to support children and families through partnerships that meet
community needs; and
WHEREAS, on May 16, 2011, representatives of Louisiana's YMCAs will meet in
the Louisiana State Capitol with their Representatives and Senators to discuss and exchange
ideas on issues facing youth and families.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana hereby
designates May 16, 2011, as "YMCA Day in Louisiana."
