SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 107
BY SENATOR THOMPSON 
A RESOLUTION
To commend Paul J. Lipe on fifty years of service to his church and community and
recognizes August 21, 2011, as Paul J. Lipe Day in Delhi.
WHEREAS, Paul J. Lipe is a well-loved member of the Delhi community, dedicated
member of his church, loving family man, and an example of compassion and integrity; and
WHEREAS, he was born on December 31, 1935, in China Grove, North Carolina,
the third child of A.P. and Julie Lipe, graduated from Davidson College in Davidson, North
Carolina, where he received a degree in history, after which he was called to the service of
the Lord and attended Columbia Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, where he graduated in 1961;
and
WHEREAS, he married Linda Hastings on August 4, 1962, and the couple have two
children, Mary Linda and Jonathan; and
WHEREAS, he began his long service to Christ as a summer student pastor at Delhi
Presbyterian in 1960, was ordained by Red River Presbyter y in June 1961, and became
pastor of the Delhi Presbyterian Church, where his dedication and leadership for over fifty
years have been instrumental in the rapid growth of the church, including multiple
expansions of the facilities, a highly successful summer basketball camp for area youth for
the last twenty-five years, and youth trips to Montreat; and
WHEREAS, his inspiration as a pastor and leader extends beyond his church, as he
has served as a past moderator of the Mississippi Valley Presbytery and the Louisiana
Presbytery, has served three terms in the General Assembly Nominating Committee of the
Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and has chaired several Committees of the
Commissioners at the General Assembly; and
WHEREAS, Paul Lipe has been an integral part of the Delhi community, and has
served as the past president of a number of organizations, including the Delhi PTA, the Delhi
Lions Club, the Dixie Boys Baseball, and the Bi-Racial Committee of Richland Parish
School Board; has served as a past member of the Richland Parish Library Board and the SR NO. 107	ENROLLED

Governor's Codofil Board; was instrumental in initiating the Community Churches'
Benevolent Fund; served as a substitute teacher at Delhi High School; and has served on
numerous committees for mayor, council, and school; and
WHEREAS, the members of Delhi Presbyterian Church, the citizens of Delhi, and
the state of Louisiana are grateful for the generosity and dedication that Paul Lipe has shown
toward his fellow man in making a better community and world, and thus sets aside August
21, 2011, as a day of recognition of this great pastor, leader, husband, father, and friend. 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Paul J . Lipe on fifty years of service to his church and community
and recognizes August 21, 2011, as Paul J. Lipe Day in Delhi.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Paul
J. Lipe.
