SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 11
BY SENATOR THOMPSON
COMMENDATIONS. Commends Renee Lee Ward of Delhi Charter School for receiving
the prestigious Milken Educator Award.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Renee Lee Ward upon receiving the Milken Family Foundation Educator2
Award and for her dedicated service to the students at Delhi Charter School.3
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend and congratulate Renee Lee Ward upon4
her receipt of the highly prestigious Milken Family Foundation Educator Award and to5
recognize her outstanding contributions to her students, her school, and her community; and6
WHEREAS, celebrating the twenty-fourth anniversary of the awards program, the7
Milken Educator Award provides public recognition and financial rewards to elementary and8
secondary school teachers, principals, and other education professionals who are furthering9
excellence in education in the hopes of attracting, retaining, and motivating talented and10
creative people to a career of teaching in the classroom; and11
WHEREAS, criteria for selection include exceptional educational talent as evidenced12
by outstanding instructional practices in the classroom, school, and profession; outstanding13
accomplishment and strong long-range potential for professional and policy leadership; and14
an engaging and inspiring presence that motivates and impacts students, colleagues, and the15
community; and16
WHEREAS, Renee Lee Ward, a Master Teacher at Delhi Charter School, is a former17
first grade teacher with eleven years of experience, who has used her knowledge and18 SR NO. 11

experience in the classroom to analyze standardized tests of students and benchmark data1
to identify the areas of strength and weakness of her students; and2
WHEREAS, as a Master Teacher, Ms. Ward uses research-based teaching strategies3
to support other teachers at the charter school; and4
WHEREAS, Ms. Ward is held in the highest regard by her students and colleagues5
for her remarkable ability to motivate students to succeed beyond their own expectations and6
because she has consistently demonstrated a dedicated spirit and an intense determination7
to improve the quality of education in Louisiana; and8
WHEREAS, the members of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana wish to9
express utmost gratitude and respect for the exemplary strides Renee Lee Ward has taken10
in the molding of young minds and for the joy and pride she brings to her entire community11
for being honored with this most significant and unforgettable achievement; and12
WHEREAS, Renee Lee Ward joins a distinguished group of educators honored by13
the Milken Family Foundation who continue their service and are dedicated to elevating14
their profession and affecting the policies that shape their classrooms and schools; and15
WHEREAS, Renee Lee Ward merits a sincere measure of commendation for her16
dedication to excellence in education as an exceptional teacher at Delhi Charter School.17
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana18
does hereby commend Renee Lee Ward of Delhi Charter School upon receiving a Milken19
Educator Award, does hereby recognize and record for posterity her extraordinary20
contributions to the education of the youth of Louisiana and her unparalleled legacy of21
dedication and excellence in education, and does hereby wish Ms. Ward every measure of22
success and happiness in her future endeavors.23
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to24
Renee Lee Ward.25
